Thomas T. Chen, M.D., Ph.D.

Thomas Chen

Dr. Thomas Chen received his Bachelors in Arts degree in Molecular Biology and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in Immunology at Stanford University in the lab of Dr. Ronald Levy. Following his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine, he completed his Medical Oncology Fellowship at University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Chen is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He specializes in hematology and all aspects of medical oncology with a special interest in lung cancer.

Before coming to Southbay Oncology Hematology Partners in August 2008, Dr. Chen practiced for three years with Associated Medical Specialists at San Mateo Medical Center. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Adjunct Professor with the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Francisco.

Dr. Tom Chen lives in Palo Alto with his wife Aline, his daughter, Laura, and his son, Jason. Before the demands of parenthood and clinical practice, Dr. Chen enjoyed playing the violin with a chamber music group and participating in triathlons.
